Description
The Glengary Hotel, located at 41 Regent Street, dates from around 1830. This building has three storeys and a basement, constructed from gault brick. It features a hipped slate roof with wide projecting eaves and a symmetrical front. The facade includes three windows with flat brick arches and glazing bars. The entrance is a semi-circular-headed doorway set in a round-headed recess, complete with plain stone imposts. The hotel is historically significant as it is associated with the founding of Newnham College between 1871 and 1875. Inside, the original staircase remains intact.
