Description
74 Trumpington Street is a building dating from around 1760, designed by James Essex. It stands three storeys high with a basement and features a symmetrical front. The building has a wooden entablature below the parapet and three windows, with the second floor showcasing moulded architraves. The side windows on the ground and first floors are of the Venetian type, while the middle first-floor window is adorned with architraves, a frieze, and a cornice. The entrance is approached by a short flight of stone steps and is flanked by Tuscan pilasters, an entablature, and a dentilled pediment. The ground floor windows do not have glazing bars, and there are remains of wrought iron standards for the entrance gate. The interior retains some features from the 18th century but has been largely modernized. The property also includes No 1 Mill Lane and the house adjoining No 74 on the north.
