Description
The Church of Christ Church, built in 1839 by Ambrose Poynter, is located on Newmarket Road. It features a Tudor style with red brick and stone dressings, topped by a slate roof. The church has turrets with domical ogee caps at each corner, reminiscent of King's College Chapel. It consists of six bays and has three-light transomed windows with quatrefoil heads at either end.
Inside, the church has arcades supported by plain octagonal piers and moulded four-centred arches. The interior was altered in 1946 and divided horizontally in the late 20th century, creating a church hall below and a worship area above, which retains the galleries. The roof is panelled. A north porch was added in the late 19th century.
