Description

Greystones is an 18th-century stone house located on the west side of Pegas Road in Peakirk. Originally known as Peakirk House, it is a building of group value. The house has an ashlar facade featuring a parapet cornice embellished with modillions and a band at the first-floor level. It is two storeys high with an attic, arranged over five bays. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within moulded architraves. A prominent Venetian window is centrally located on the first floor, framed by pilasters and an entablature, surmounted by a bracketed cill. The central doorway is distinguished by panelled pilasters and a pediment supported by console brackets, enclosing a fielded panel door with glazed upper panels. Three hipped dormers are visible in the roof. The steeply pitched roof is constructed of Collywestern stone with coped gable ends and ashlar end stacks. A gabled wing projects from the rear of the house, featuring a large end stack. A 19th-century rear addition includes an ornate cast iron porch. The interior features a simple early 19th-century staircase.
