Description

No. 5, Clay Lane is a 17th or 18th century cottage. It is constructed of coursed stone rubble and has a thatched roof with gabled ends and stone coping. The building is one storey high with attics, and two dormers break the eaves, featuring casement windows. There are three casement windows on the ground floor, with glazing bars, and a small, modern window has been inserted. A plank door is located on the right-hand side, with a flat hood above it. A central brick ridge stack is present. The cottage is described in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (RCHM) record, page 68.
