Description

Clay Cottage is likely a late 17th century house, originally built with coursed stone rubble. It has undergone significant alteration since its construction. The steeply pitched roof is covered with Belgian tiles and features gabled ends, a parapet gable at the south end, and internal brick stacks, with a ridge stack located near the north end. The house is one storey high with an attic. The front elevation includes two ground floor casement windows with timber lintels, alongside a modern lean-to porch set into an angle formed by a single-storey wing to the southwest, which also has a steeply pitched Belgian tile roof with a gabled end. A modern, continuous attic dormer featuring three casement windows and a flat roof is present. A modern lean-to garage has been added to the north end. Inside, an old piscina is incorporated as a window sill within one of the rooms.
