Description

The barn north of Belsize Farmhouse is a 16th or 17th century long stone rubble structure featuring stables at the west end. It has a steeply pitched Collyweston stone roof with gabled ends. On either side of the barn doors, there are buttresses with ashlar set-offs and small square ventilation holes. The south side has yellow brick arches that were added in the 19th century for implement and cart sheds. The stables at the north end are likely from the 17th century. Inside, the barn has a tie-beam truss roof with renewed 'V' struts, collars, and through purlins, along with wind braces to the principal rafters.
