Description
Two barns and a stable located to the west of the Old Rectory date back to the 17th century, with the roof possibly being older. The buildings are constructed from flint with clunch walls, brick dressings, and re-used rubble, topped with a steeply pitched red pantiled roof. The eastern barn features a three-stead design with a central lowered cart entrance flanked by three filled-in brick ventilation holes on either side. There is a lean-to on the south side and a gabled stable beyond. Inside, the barn has five bays and a double Queen post roof supported by arched braced tie-beams with wall posts. The Queen posts have wind braces leading to the lower purlin and collars, with expanded tops supporting the collars. There are also two braced collars positioned between the main trusses, and the interior includes a brick threshing floor.
