Description
Ferry Bridge, dated 1716, is a fine ashlar bridge located on the boundary between the parishes of Castor and Orton Waterville. It features three spans with round arches, fluted keyblocks, and cutwaters. The moulded parapet is ramped up to the center. The north abutment includes two chambers with two plain segmental-headed doorways on the east side and two bulls-eye windows on the west side. A stone tablet inscribed "The Bridge was built at the sole cost and charge of the It Hon William Fitzwilliam 1716" is also present.
