Description
The Dairy, located immediately to the north-east of the kitchen garden at Milton Hall, is a building from the 18th or 19th century. It features an ashlar front with vermiculated rustication and a stone modillion cornice topped with a crested blocking course. The front includes a large rusticated elliptical arch with a keyblock that has a mark of a cow, and there are moulded imposts over flanking niches, which also have similar keyblocks. Inside, there is a wide stone doorway with a moulded architrave that includes a cornice and console brackets, leading to double doors. To the south, there is an adjoining wing that has circular windows under the eaves and contains a Roman tessellated pavement from the site at Castor.
