Description

Thatchcroft is a 17th to 18th century cottage located on Helpston Road in Ailsworth. It is built from coursed rubble with rusticated quoins and features a thatched roof with gabled ends. The south end gable displays an inscription with the initials "CS" and a date. The cottage has one storey and attics, with a dormer at the eaves and one ground floor window fitted with modern casements. There is a ledged door and rendered lintels. To the left, there is an early 19th century wing that has a modern brick stack at its north end. At the rear, there is a modern lean-to extension. The building also has a sun fire insurance plaque.
