Description

No. 31 Turnpike Road is a house that was formerly known as The Bull public house. It has origins dating back to the 17th century, with later additions and alterations. The exterior features colourwashed render over a timber frame and a clay tile roof that is half-hipped towards the road. The main block of the house is two storeys high, with a gable end facing the road. A later one-storey and attic block extends from the northeast elevation.

The road-facing gable includes a canted bay window on the ground floor and a three-light casement window on the first floor. The southwest elevation has one two-light window on the ground floor and two two-light casement windows on the first floor. Most of the windows are adorned with diamond leading. There is an off-centre doorway on the southwest elevation, featuring a simple surround topped with a cornice hood. The house has red brick chimney stacks, with one aligned with the doorway and the other projecting from the northeast elevation.
