Description
West End Cottage is a house that was formerly a pair of estate cottages, built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed ironstone with ashlar dressings, and some of the stonework appears to have been reused from other buildings. The house features a hipped thatched roof and has a two-room plan, with one storey and attics.
The symmetrical east elevation has two single lights flanking two three-light windows on the ground floor. In the attic, there are two eyebrow dormers, each with three-light windows. All of these windows are either mullioned or have a combination of mullions and transoms. The roof extends forward to create a roof over the central porch, which is supported by diagonal buttresses at the corners and features a four-centred arched doorway, with the moulded head seemingly reused. A red brick central multiple ridge stack is present, and there is a 20th-century flat-roofed addition at the rear.
