Description
The Poplars is a house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, featuring timber framed construction with some areas having colourwashed plaster infill, while other parts have been encased and replaced by colourwashed brick. The roof is covered with clay tiles. The building has an L-shaped plan, consisting of a two-room 17th-century block and an 18th-century half-hipped block that projects to the northeast. There is a single-storey 19th-century colourwashed brick addition that projects to the southeast.
The windows vary, with a mix of casement styles, mostly consisting of two or three lights, some with glazing bars and others with leaded lights. A 20th-century box dormer is present on the 18th-century block, and a 20th-century canted bay window is located on the southwest side of the 17th-century block. The 17th-century section features a part-glazed front door aligned with a red brick ridge stack, which originally served a back-to-back hearth, although one side of the hearth is now blocked.
