Description
This building is a barn with an integral cartway, dating from the late 17th century. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a rendered brick plinth, with a gable-ended roof covered in corrugated iron. The barn has a three-bay plan, with the northern bay serving as the cartway.
On the exterior, there is a full-height cartway on the left, supported by posts with curved braces, and a later range attached to the left side. At the rear, facing the road, there is another cartway to the right, which also has curved braces and is fitted with plank double doors, alongside a smaller door to the right. Inside the cartway, there is a weatherboarded partition that includes a doorway leading to the central bay.
The interior showcases a three-bay frame, with the northern bay designated as the cartway. It features jowled posts, a mid-rail, studs, curved tension braces, curved braces to the tie-beams, and queen-struts that support clasped purlins; however, only some of the common rafters remain.
