Description

SP 93 SE WOBURN WOBURN PARK 3/194 The Log Hut - II Garden house. Built c,1838 for John 6th Duke of Bedford. North American style log cabin set in glade of evergreen trees. Coursed ironstone plinth. Upper part of logs which retain their bark, apparently encasing brick structure. Roof of fishscale shingles, with logs to ridges. Deep verges to gables, undersides with logwork facing. Irregular cross-shaped plan. Single-storeyed. SW gable has part-glazed double doors with twigwork decoration. This is reached by flight of timber steps with moulded timber balustrade. N angle has twigwork door up flight of stone steps. Other elevations have casement windows with plank shutters. Substantial ironstone ridge stack with 3 linked moulded square shafts.
