Description
Star Lodge is an entrance lodge belonging to Woburn Abbey, built between 1810 and 1812 for John, the 6th Duke of Bedford. The building is small, single-storeyed, and rectangular, constructed of stucco with a slate roof. The nil elevation features a central projecting bay with a pediment, which includes a tripartite sash window with glazing bars. On either side of this central block are open porches, each with simply moulded entablatures that match the central bay. Each porch is supported by two Tuscan columns and two pilasters, and each porch leads to a doorway that opens onto the central pedimented block, featuring part-glazed panelled doors. A stuccoed multiple ridge stack is present on the roof.
