Description

This is a mid-19th century building on the east side of High Street South. It is constructed of red brick with a Welsh slate roof, detailed by a bracketed dentil cornice. The building rises to two storeys and has a canted bay on the right side. It features a 1:3 arrangement of segmentally arched sash windows. A notable feature is the doorway, which has an earlier style. It contains a six-panelled door with four fielded panels, two flush panels, an oblong fanlight with curved ornamental glazing bars, a panelled reveal, pilasters, a frieze with paterae, and a cornice hood. The building is listed primarily for the quality of its doorway. Nos. 47, 47A, 49 and 49A are part of a group and are considered of local interest alongside No. 45.
