Description

The bridge between the Upper and Middle Ponds is a Grade II* listed structure from the late 19th century. It is believed to have been supplied by Clayton and Shuttleworth of Lincoln, the company that contributed to the wealth of the garden's later owners, the Shuttleworths. The bridge features a combination of cast and wrought iron in its construction. It has a simple design, characterized by a small humpbacked shape, metal trelliswork panels beneath the handrail adorned with roses at the intersections, and octagonal newel posts topped with simple finials.
