Description

Spinney Cottage is a house dating from the 18th century. It is built with a timber-framed structure covered in colourwashed roughcast render, with a high brick plinth. The roof is thatched. The house was originally planned with two rooms, and has one storey with attics. The gable end faces the road, and the rear elevation looks towards Woburn Lane. The east-facing elevation has two windows on the ground floor and two eyebrow dormers in the attic; all the windows are small-paned two-light casements. A 20th-century porch, colourwashed with a tile roof and a glazed door, is centrally positioned. Brick chimney stacks, colourwashed, are on both gable ends, with the right-hand one being external. A single-storeyed addition, colourwashed and with a clay tiled roof, has been added to the left-hand gable end in the 20th century.
