Description
Hollydale is a house that was once used as a school house. It dates from the 18th century and was reworked in the 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick laid in header bond, featuring zigzag patterning in vitrified bricks, while the 19th-century section is made of plain red brick. The roofs are covered with clay tiles that have a fishscale pattern, with slates on the rear.
The original block is two storeys high and has a two-room plan, with a two-storey addition to the north from the 19th century. The main block has a symmetrical facade, featuring two windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor. All windows are two-light casements with glazing bars, set in slightly enlarged openings, with the ground floor windows having 19th-century gauged yellow brick heads. The central doorway is topped by a 19th-century yellow brick arch and features a six-panel door, with the top pair of panels glazed. The gable end chimney stacks were rebuilt in the 19th century. The 19th-century block on the left has two sash windows on each floor.
