Description
Monks Pool is a house that was formerly the rectory, built in the late 18th century with 19th-century additions and alterations. It is situated on a moated site, replacing an earlier building. The house is constructed of red brick and features clay tile roofs. It has a double pile plan with a two-span roof, standing two storeys high with attics. There are later outbuildings at the rear, which are one storey and one storey with attics.
The southeast elevation has a four-window range with flush sash windows that include glazing bars; the ground floor windows have gauged brick flat heads. A modillion cornice runs along the eaves, and there is a red brick ridge stack at the center, along with a red brick external stack on the right-hand gable end. The southwest elevation has sash windows that are placed irregularly. The front door has six moulded panels and is topped by a semicircular fanlight with radiating glazing bars. This door is set within a panelled round-arched reveal and is flanked by pilasters that support an open pediment.
Inside, the interior is rather plain, featuring two simple fireplaces and some panelled doors and reveals.
