Description

This is a farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century, with significant alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of red brick, with flared headers; the rear elevation is in English bond, while the other elevations use Flemish bond. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in clay tiles. The house follows a double-pile plan, arranged around a central staircase, forming a U-shaped block.

The southwest elevation has a central six-panel door, topped by a rectangular fanlight with diamond glazing bars within a simple moulded architrave. A shallow, open porch dating from the 20th century stands in front of the door. To the left of the door is a 20th-century bay window, and to the right, and on the first floor, are 19th-century, two-light casement windows with glazing bars. Gauged brick flat arches appear over the 19th-century ground floor windows, one of which has been replaced with yellow brick. A brick band runs along the first-floor level.

The northeast elevation features a recessed staircase bay with a pyramidal roof, and pyramidal roofed dormers on the side elevations. A 19th-century lean-to extends across two blind first-floor windows of the staircase block. The outer blocks of the house each have one window per floor; the first-floor windows are two-light casements with glazing bars, while the left-hand ground floor window is blind, and the right-hand ground floor window is a 20th-century replacement. Most windows have gauged brick flat arches. A brick band also runs along the first-floor level on this elevation.

A single-story, 19th-century outbuilding adjoins the house on the right-hand side. Both side elevations incorporate multiple integral chimney stacks, ornamented with moulded bands, blind arcading, and dentil cornices. One side has a hipped dormer containing a two-light casement.
