Description
No. 270 on Bedford Road is an 18th-century house with a 20th-century extension. It is built of red brick, featuring a first floor with a diamond pattern made of vitrified headers and a clay tile roof. The original part of the house is two stories high with a three-window facade, while the 20th-century extension to the left adds a fourth window, making a total of four windows across the facade. The ground floor windows are all two-light designs with wooden mullions and transoms, set beneath slightly cambered heads. The first floor has two-light casements, and most windows are fitted with leaded lights. The central doorway of the 18th-century block is topped with a gabled hood. There is a brick band at the first floor level, and brick chimney stacks are located at both gable ends of the original block.
