Description

HUSBORNE CRAWLEY SCHOOL LANE SP 9435 + SP 9635 12/30 + 13/30 Husborne Crawley Lower School and schoolhouse - II School and schoolhouse. Dated 1867. Designed by Henry Clutton for 7th Duke of Bedford. Most of structure covered with colourwashed render and applied timber framing, with high plinth, buttresses and chimney stacks of red brick. Clay tile roofs. School consists of long one storey and attics block with single-storeyed porch projecting from RH. Schoolhouse consists of 2-storeyed cross-wing at LH end. All windows are mullioned, mostly of 3 and 4 lights, those to front elevation of school grouped in pairs immediately below eaves. Part-glazed doors, that serving schoolhouse within angle formed by cross-wing, under sloping hood. School has chimney stack projecting slightly from front elevation, with brick dentil bands to base and cap of shaft. Schoolhouse has multiple chimney stack projecting slightly from side wall.
