Description
Milton Mill is a late 18th century or early 19th century mill that was renovated in 1857 by William Butterfield. The building is constructed of red brick and features a clay tile roof. It has a basic T-plan layout, consisting of two storeys and attics, with a later two-storey extension at the rear. The double apex gable end faces the road and includes two windows on both the first and second floors, along with double wooden doors on the first and ground floors. The eastern elevation has a centrally located half-hipped dormer, and the gables of the cross-wing are also half-hipped. A mill stream runs beneath the cross-wing, which has a Gothic arch over the ground floor stream opening. Most of the windows feature cambered heads and are a mix of sashes and casements, complete with mullions and transoms.
