Description
Chantry House is a late 19th-century house, likely a significant remodelling of an earlier building. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a fishscale tile roof with stone gable coping. The house has a six-bay plan and is one storey high with attics. There are two slightly projecting gabled wings, with the western bay being slightly lower than the other.
On the south elevation, there are four attic dormers that have gable coping and moulded kneelers. The attic storey includes six windows in total, which are 2-light casement windows; the easternmost window features a large stone mullion. The ground floor has five 3-light casement windows, each with a high-level transom.
There are three doorways; the westernmost doorway, located in the lower bay, has an open-sided gabled porch with carved bargeboards. The other two doorways are situated in the central two bays at the angles with the projecting wings. Both of these doorways now contain French windows and have pedimented doorhoods supported by two slender timber piers.
