Description
West Grange is the western part of a large mansion located on the south bank of the River Ouse, built in 1886. It was formerly one building with East Grange. The structure is made of coursed limestone rubble and features a modern concrete tile roof with stone-coped gable ends. It has a double pile plan and stands two storeys tall.
The front elevation includes two-storey bay windows on both the left and right sides, each topped with stone-coped gables. The left gable displays a shield featuring three lambs and a motto in a square niche. The windows on both the first and ground floors are four-light designs with central stone mullions, heavy wooden mullions, transoms, and hexagonal leaded lights. An inscription is found on the band between the ground and first floors.
On the right side, there is an entrance porch with a plain shield at the apex, and above it, a single-light oriel window sits over a neo-Tudor doorway. To the left of the porch, a gabled first-floor three-light window is adorned with a gargoyle above it, with a four-light ground floor window below. The western elevation features two bay windows with old clay tile roofs, each accompanied by three-light first-floor windows. The gate posts are square and topped with crowned lions gardant holding shields.
