Description

East Grange is the eastern part of a larger mansion located on the south bank of the River Ouse. It dates to 1886 and was originally a single house with West Grange. The building is constructed from similar materials to West Grange. It is two storeys high with attics. The front elevation features a large, central, projecting gabled bay with a small slit in the apex, a single window at attic level, and two windows at each of the first and ground floors. These windows have ashlar dressings, 3-light mullions and transoms, and hexagonal leaded panes. A datestone bearing “1886 HHC” is recessed beneath the attic window. To the left is a large attic dormer with a stone-coped gable and a 2-light window; the first floor window is 2-light and the ground floor is 3-light. A similar dormer is on the right, along with two first floor 2-light windows, one ground floor 2-light window and a modern porch. The roof has stone-coped gables, and there are triple-shafted brick hexagonal stacks at each gable end and centrally. A large gabled wing with matching window treatment projects from the rear.
