Description

This is a 17th-century former vicarage, with restorations dating to 1846, as indicated by a datestone. The main south wing is late 17th century, constructed in coursed limestone rubble with an old clay tiled roof. It features two integral gable end stacks, built of red brick and each with two joined shafts. The building has two main storeys, plus attics. The south-facing street elevation contains five ground floor windows and six first floor windows, with one blocked. The south gable end has four windows. The windows have, or have had, heavy moulded wooden mullions and transoms, alongside diamond leaded panes, and wooden lintels with attached straight moulded drip heads. Modern extensions have been added to the rear. The north wing is likely a little earlier in date and uses similar materials. It is a smaller scale two-storey building with two ground floor casements featuring glazing bars, two gabled dormers with stone coping flanking a blocked first floor window, and a central brick double stack. The north gable end displays decorative bargeboards and a datestone bearing the year 1846.
