Description

College Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with an old clay tile roof and brick stacks. The main block is oriented with its long axis facing the road. It follows a large three-room plan, with integral gable-end stacks positioned behind flat stone-coped gables; one stack is situated opposite the front door. The farmhouse has two storeys and attics. The front elevation features one original ground-floor window, beneath a wooden lintel, to the east of a four-panelled front door, which has a flat door hood supported by side brackets on simple pilaster supports. The first floor has two original windows at the east end, with one blocked window at the west end. A two-storey rear wing, dating to the early 19th century, is constructed of local red brick with darker brick headers and has an old clay tile roof. This wing features modern windows and a blocked door under large gauged flat arches.
