Description
Corn Close is a late 18th century house that was altered in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a new tiled mansard roof. The building is two storeys high with attics and has a large two-room plan with a central front door. There are two integral brick gable end stacks and the gable ends have been modernised with flat copings.
The front elevation includes a recessed front door with four panels under four lights, topped by a flat hood supported by brackets and fluted pilaster supports. To the east of the front door is a smaller casement window, while to the west is a 19th century canted bay. At the east end, there is a four-light casement window under a timber lintel. On the first floor, there are three casement windows with 4 and 3 lights, all under timber lintels. The house also features two box dormers with slightly cambered heads.
The 19th century rear wing, likely built around the same time as the front alterations, is made of painted red brick and has a slate roof with a large central brick stack.
