Description
The Old School House is a former school that has been converted into a house, built in 1857 for Lord St John. The building features chequered brick with some stone dressings and has a modern tile roof. It is designed in a T-plan, with a two-storey south wing and a one-storey north wing that includes 20th-century attics. The south wing has a central ridge stack with three octagonal flues.
On the east elevation, there is a projecting wing that includes a canted bay on the ground floor with a mullion and transom window. The first floor features a mullioned two-light window with a moulded label, while the attic level displays a datestone with an "S" below a coronet. The recessed wing has two mullion and transom five-light windows with moulded labels and a central projecting gabled porch with a Tudor arch leading to the door. Additionally, there are three 20th-century gabled dormers.
