Description

Lantern Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on Silver Street in Great Barford. The building features a colour-washed rough cast exterior over a timber frame and has a thatched roof that is hipped at the west end. It has a three-room plan and is one storey high with attics. The cottage includes two 2-light horizontal sash windows with glazing bars, one casement window with glazing bars, and two dormers, which also have 2-light horizontal sashes with glazing bars. A plank door is positioned in line with a red brick ridge stack, and there is an external gable end red brick stack on the east side. Additionally, there is a 20th-century single-storey addition to the east gable end.
