Description
Nos. 52 and 54 Silver Street are a pair of cottages dating from the 18th century. They are constructed of colour-washed brick and rough cast, topped with thatched roofs. Each cottage has a one-room plan, is one storey high with attics, and features two 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor. Above, there are two eyebrow dormers that contain two-light horizontal sashes with glazing bars.
No. 52 includes a tiled gabled open porch with a plank door, while No. 54 has a thatched hipped open porch with a four-panel door. A red brick ridge stack is located at the division between the two cottages. Both cottages have single-bay, two-storey 20th-century extensions at their gable ends, and No. 54 also features a flat-roofed single-storey extension that projects forward.
