Description
Russet Cottage is a house, likely once part of a pair, dating from the 18th century. It features colour washed rough cast over a timber frame, with the western elevation's ground floor rebuilt in brick, also colourwashed. The roof is covered in clay tiles. The building has a four-room plan and is two storeys high. On the eastern elevation, there are a variety of two-light casement windows, with four on each floor. A part-glazed door is located between the two left-hand bays, sheltered by a hipped porch from the 20th century. A red brick double ridge stack is positioned at the centre, originally marking the division between the two cottages. There is a lean-to addition at the southern gabled end, and a large 20th-century wing extends westward from the northern end of the western elevation.
