Description

This is a group of cottages and an attached barn, dating back to the 16th or 17th century, with additions from the 19th century. The cottages at numbers 45-47 are originally a two-room cottage. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with colourwashed plaster over a timber frame, and have a thatched roof. The front elevation was renovated in the 19th century, featuring two tall, narrow, gabled dormers, and four ground-floor, two-light casement windows with diamond-leaded panes. A one-storey extension with a tall, thin, gabled porch was added in the 19th century to the west. The attached barn is thatched and weatherboarded, with a half-hipped gable end facing the road. Cottage number 49 is built of similar materials. Its east gable end is half-hipped and decorated with panelled pargetting. At the rear there is one gabled dormer, and at the front there are two eyebrow dormers with leaded lights. There are three two-light casement windows with glazing bars.
