Description
Bromham Mill is an 18th century or early 19th century mill that was rebuilt on the site of an earlier mill. The building is constructed of red brick, with part of the base of the north and south elevations made of coursed limestone rubble. Light timber-framing with brick infill is exposed at the top of the north and south elevations. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and the mill stands three storeys tall. It features casement windows, with two on the south front having metal lattice panes. Some original mill machinery remains, including a 14-foot diameter breastshot iron wheel, the drive equipment for it, and five pairs of stones. Inside, there is a datestone from 1695 from the earlier building, while a datestone from 1722 is located outside. An adjoining extension has a datestone from 1859 on its west gable, and it is built of coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof and metal lattice casement windows. This extension is two storeys tall and has a similar range with casement windows projecting northwards.
