Description
The Parish Church of St Owen is an isolated church primarily built between the 13th and 15th centuries, with renovations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features coursed limestone rubble walls and a tiled roof. The chancel, nave, and north aisle date from the 13th century, while the west tower and porch were added in the 15th century. The chancel consists of three bays and includes a 14th-century piscina with a ribbed canopy. The battlemented nave has a three-bay 13th-century north arcade and mostly 15th-century windows, along with a four-bay 15th-century roof. The north porch has a parvise above, with a notable wooden door and window. The south porch contains a library room above, marked with a datestone from 1740. The tower is built in four stages, featuring embattled parapets, gargoyles at the corners, and diagonal buttresses. Inside, there is a 15th-century octagonal font and several old bench ends. The chancel houses a 15th-century Dyve brass, while the aisle contains an alabaster monument from 1603 dedicated to the Dyve family, and at the west end, there is a Trevor monument from the mid-18th century.
