Description

The Heynes memorial is a chest tomb located about 10 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Cassian in Chaddesley Corbett. It dates from 1824 and is constructed of ashlar stone. The tomb features a substantial base with a moulded plinth and cornice, a ridged and hipped capping, and corner balusters. The inscription on the south side reads: "Sacred to the memory [of]/ Jane wif[e .....]/ James Heynes/ (of Yieldingtree in this parish)/ who died August 30th 1824/ Aged 28 years/ Also of Mary wife of James Heynes/ who died January 21st 1828/ Aged 25 years".
