Description
19 and 20 York Street are a pair of houses, likely built as one, around 1800. They are constructed of brick with stone quoins and have a Welsh slate roof. The buildings are three stories tall and consist of five bays. One section features a symmetrical arrangement of three bays with a central doorway, while the other unit has a doorway to the left. Both doors are six-panelled and have traceried fanlights set in pedimented cases. The windows are 16-pane sashes, with 12-pane sashes above the doorways, and have flat arched stuccoed heads that include voussoirs and keystones. The right-hand unit features a bow window that may date from the early 19th century, adorned with beading and medallions at the corners of the fascia. The houses have a stuccoed modillion eaves cornice and gable end stacks. The rear elevation includes three hipped roof wings and an additional basement storey.
