Description
The Malt House is a building that originally served as a malt house and is now a house and shop. It dates from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The structure is timber-framed with painted brick infill and features a tile roof that is half-hipped towards the street. It has two storeys and an attic, which is illuminated by a 2-light casement window under the half-hip. The first floor has a modern fixed casement window. On the ground floor, there is a slightly advanced multi-pane shop window. The entrance to the shop is located on the right-hand side, facing Fish Street, and features a pilastered wooden doorcase with a moulded cornice. The framing of the building consists of three square panels high to the first floor and attic, with straight tension braces, and the ends of the main floor joists are exposed.
