Description

A school, now two houses, dating from 1607, with significant alterations in the mid-19th century and some late-20th century work. The building is timber-framed with rendered infill and has a tile roof. It is arranged in an L-shaped plan, with ranges extending to the southwest and southeast. The southwest front features a projecting wing to the left. This wing has a gable containing an attic, and its lower floor is partly built into a hillside, with a 20th-century extension at a half-floor level. To the right of the projecting wing is a two-storey range featuring two two-light casement windows. The ground floor has a single-light casement to the left and a two-light casement to the right. A 20th-century stable door serves as the entrance to number 4, located in the left-hand corner, while the entrance to number 5 is in the return wall of the projecting wing. The timber framing is organised in five square panels high, with straight angle braces. The gable end of the wing includes quadrant lugged braces in square panels, and the date '1607' is carved on a curved brace near the apex.
