Description

This chest tomb, located about 9 yards south of the tower of the Church of St John the Baptist, is likely from the mid-17th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. It features a moulded, slightly hipped capping that has a pronounced overhang and a moulded cornice. The corner posts are adorned with raised decoration. The sides of the tomb include oval inscription panels with raised borders, which are set within a recessed strapwork surround, and there is a roundel at each corner. The end panels display a similar strapwork and roundel design. An inscription on the south side is currently illegible.
