Description

Rose Villa is a house dating from the mid-18th century, which was remodelled in the mid-19th century and altered again in the mid-20th century. It was formerly known as Rosemead. The house is constructed of brick, some of which is handmade, with stone ashlar dressings. It has a slate roof with gable-end parapets, decorative cast ironwork to the ridge and end stacks. The building is two storeys and has an attic, with an ashlar eaves cornice detailed with modillions. It has three bays, and all windows are 12-pane sashes with gauged flat arches, ashlar keyblocks and sills. The central entrance is topped by a moulded flat canopy supported by simple columns, leading to a six-panelled door consisting of two raised and fielded panels and two glazed panels. There are attic windows in the gable ends. A two-storey wing adjoins the main house to the rear, featuring 20th-century windows.
