Description

The Manor House is a house that has been divided into five dwellings. It dates from the early 17th century and has undergone alterations and extensions in the mid-19th century, around 1900, in the 1930s, and in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed and dressed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings. It features a stone tiled roof laid in diminishing courses, with a large rear chimney and a star-shaped brick shaft, as well as a south end stack with three square ashlar shafts.

The house has two storeys and an attic with dormers, arranged in four bays. It has chamfered mullioned windows with leaded casements and hoodmoulds on the two main storeys. The ground floor has three 4-light windows, two of which have central king mullions, while the first floor has four 3-light windows. Above these are four gabled dormers with parapets, gabled finials, and 2-light windows with dripstones. The main entrance, located to the right of the northern bay, features a 20th-century gabled rubble porch with a square-headed archway and 4-light windows on the side elevations. The doorway has a 4-centred arched head, a hoodmould, and a 17th-century studded door with strap hinges.

There is a 1930s addition at the rear of the north end elevation, along with a large two-storey seven-bay wing at the rear of the southern two bays, which dates from the 19th century and has later additions. Inside, the northern bay of the original part retains its 17th-century panelling and a large fireplace. There is also a through-passage, with a doorway opposite the main entrance that features a similar 4-centred arched head and relief decoration in the spandrels.
