Description
The coach house and stables, now converted into three dwellings, date from the mid- to late 18th century and were converted in the late 20th century. The structure is built from dressed coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a hipped plain tiled roof. It has a symmetrical facade with two bays on either side of a central bay, which contains a large round-headed archway. The building has two levels, with imposts to the central archway that continue as a band at the upper floor level.
On the main south elevation, the central archway is topped by a pediment that rises above the eaves and includes a round-lobed quatrefoil window. The flanking bays feature 20th-century round-headed cross-casements on the ground floor. To the left side, there is a hipped-roofed dormer window with a pair of 3-light 20th-century leaded casements, a 2-light 20th-century casement at the upper floor level, and two skylights on the right side. A three-bay wing extends to the rear of the two left bays. This building is adjacent to the rear west wing of Upper Court and is located next to the Church of St Nicholas, contributing to its group value.
