Description
The former barn, located about 20 yards north-west of Upper Goosehill Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded, standing on a high brick plinth, with a plain tiled roof. The barn consists of four framed bays arranged in a north-west to south-east orientation. It features a wagon bay with a midstrey in the third bay from the south-east end, which has large double doors.
Inside, the barn has long rectangular panels and long straight braces in the lower corners. The roof structure includes collar and tie-beam trusses with struts. There is a single-storey south-west return at the north-west end, which is also timber-framed with brick infill. The collar and tie-beam truss is exposed at the gable end, featuring three struts to the collar and V-struts in the apex. This area is open to the north-east elevation to allow livestock access.
The barn is part of a group that includes the farmhouse and another barn to the south-west of the farmstead, highlighting its group value.
