Description

This barn, located about 20 metres north of Morton Hall Farmhouse, dates from the 17th century and has undergone alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and sits on a sandstone plinth, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn consists of six framed bays arranged in an east-west orientation, with two threshing floors, each located one bay in from the gable ends. The bay at the eastern end has been opened up to serve as a garage. The framing includes two square panels high with straight tension braces, and the intermediate trusses have two raking struts. Note that Morton Hall Farmhouse itself is not included in this listing.
