Description
No. 4 High Street is a house and shop dating from the early 19th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of brick with a stucco render and features a plain tile roof with dentilled eaves and a brick stack at the right end. The building has three storeys and a two-window range. The first floor has 8/8 sash windows, while the second floor includes one 4/8 sash window on the right and a two-light window with 2/4 sashes on the left. All windows have channelled voussoirs, keystones, and projecting sills. The ground floor features a deep, enriched cornice supported by shallow pilasters and two consoles at the right and centre. The shopfront includes two plate-glazed 10-pane bay windows with thick moulded glazing bars and moulded riser panels, along with a central doorcase that has a panelled reveal, overlight, and a four-panel door. The building also has a moulded plinth. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this was the premises of a wig maker.
